The South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association, (SCIMHA) invites you to join Dr. Sherryl Scott Heller for a deep exploration of reflective supervision and the reflective process through an interactive learning process. Highlights of the training content include:

• Definition of reflective supervision & reflective practice and its purposes within early childhood contexts
  

• Core processes of reflective practice and reflective supervision (i.e., active listening, the impact of affect and the use of open-ended questions)

• Actions a supervisor should take to create a safe environment

• Steps the reflective supervisee should take to be an active participant

• Unique challenges of the mentor/monitor model in which the role of administrative supervisor and reflective supervisor are handled by a single individual

• Limited spaces are available. Priority will be given to those individuals who are positioned to implement. Reflective Supervision in their current role or who have authority to establish Reflective Supervision practices in their organization.

• Professionals for whom the training may be most beneficial are behavioral health clinicians, child welfare workers, home visitors, social workers, early care and education program directors, IFECMH Consultants.

• This training is relevant for you if you provide direct services to young children and families or if you are in a leadership role in an organization where services are provided to young children and families.

Dr. Sherryl Scott Heller, is an applied developmental psychologist and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Tulane University School of Medicine. She is co-editor with Dr. Linda Gilkerson, of the Erikson Institute in Chicago, of A Practical Guide to Reflective Supervision, for professionals in the field of early childhood intervention.  She presents and provides Reflective Supervision Consultation country-wide to professionals from many disciplines who serve young children and families.
