Session Learning Objectives
  • Explain how healthy attachment develops in early childhood.
  • Give examples of potentially traumatic events in early childhood
  • Identify how trauma interferes with typical child development


Our Presenters:

Tiffany Stenson, MC

Tiffany Stenson brings over 20 years of experience developing and facilitating professional learning experiences for diverse populations such as children and families, early education sites and agencies, professional conference attendees, and Technical Assistance Professionals. She holds a Master of Counseling degree as well as a certificate from the Yale School of Management in Fostering inclusion and Diversity. She also completed the Infant and Family Clinical Practice Certificate for the Harris Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Training Institute. She has specific experience as a Child and Family Therapist, Mental Health Consultant, and Training Specialist. Tiffany currently works as an Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Training Specialist at South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association (SCIMHA). She is passionate about promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging for all humans, especially for young children.

Jon Matusko, IMH-E® Infant Family Specialist 

Jon Matusko has spent his career immersed in the support of children and families.  After a 14 year career teaching, Jon transitioned into the Mental Health field and while working with a Head Start Program saw the urgency and importance of supporting our youngest population.  Jon currently serves as a consultant in the Myrtle Beach area, and works closely with caregivers to provide support for children ages 0-5 and their families.  Jon holds a B.A. in Spanish Languages from the University of Massachusetts, a Master's in Teaching from Elms College, and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bay Path University.  He has received the certificate in Infant Mental Health through SCIMHA, and has earned endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Family Specialist.
