  • To understand “the why” and foundational principles of the Safe Babies Court Approach
    • Brief Overview of Infant Mental Health
  • To learn and understand the core components of the Safe Babies Court Approach
  • To learn and create a trauma-informed court environment
  • To understand the effectiveness of the Safe Babies Court approach and view national data on how this has impacted safety, permanency and well-being
  • To learn the benefits of Safe Babies Court and how to become a Champion for Safe babies Court in your state


Our Presenters:

Sharleta Woodall, MSW

Sharleta Woodall is SCIMHA's Safe Babies Court statewide coordinator. A native of Charleston, S.C., Woodall currently resides in Columbia, S.C.  She holds a bachelor's and master's of social work from Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina, respectively. She has worked at a systemic level, leading and implementing various initiatives across the state of South Carolina and holds a certification to facilitate the Caring for Our Own training for kinship caregivers. Woodall has worked with government, private and non-profit agencies as a social worker in child protective services and family reunification and has also served as an intensive lead therapist for children who are at risk of out-of-home placement. She began her career working directly with children and families as a children's coordinator for continuum of care. In her free time, Woodall enjoys taking vacations, eating at restaurants and watching movies with her family.
