Amaris Gibson, Professional Development Director at SCIMHA
Amaris Gibson came to the South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association (SCIMHA) with over a decade of experience serving children and families in different capacities throughout the state of South Carolina. Amaris has a contagious passion for educating families on mental wellness and the impacts on intergenerational trauma on children and families. She wholeheartedly promotes community cohesiveness, trauma informed education, and equitable access to services to increase relational health at every level. Her enthusiasm for psychoeducation and infant mental health has led her to her current role as the Director of Professional Development at SCIMHA. With a Masters in Community Counseling from Webster University, Amaris is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and endorsed as an Infant Family Specialist and Infant Family Reflective Supervisor. She is trained in multiple evidence-based interventions that support relational, social and emotional wellness for both young children and adults. Amaris also works in private practice, offering psychotherapy for young children, individuals, and couples.
